You may remember we contracted with Talmey-Drake to conduct a poll that provided some preliminary information about what Coloradoans thought about publicly-financed election campaigns. The results indicated that about 80% of those who participated in the poll had never heard or thought about this topic. However, when they were asked if such a program became law in Colorado, about 30% said they would support an annual tax of from $5 to $10 dollars to support the program. Respondents were read several additional statements that described the current apparent impact of large amounts of money on legislation and asked the question again. This time nearly 40% indicated they would support a tax of from $5 to $10 dollars to support such legislation.

The cost of the poll was $3,300. You contributed about $1,500 to this effort. Unfortunately, the invoice for the poll had to be paid by March 18th, so we are now $1,500 in the RED. Fortunately, one of you agreed to loan CCC the $1,500. Now we need to raise that amount in order to repay the loan. Two of you have generously contributed over $500 with the proviso that if some of the rest of us send matching funds, they will contribute that much more to your matching funds. As soon as this happens, we can pay off our loan! So please send whatever you can to help CCC pay off this loan!

Incidentally, remember, every $25 you contribute gets matched with $25, so your contribution really adds $50 to our treasury; every $50 you contribute gets matched with $50, your contribution really adds $100 to our treasury.
